Determiners in English grammar are words placed in front of nouns to clarify what the noun refers to. They include

Characteristics of determiners are as follows

  • A determiner may determine or fix a place, person or thing. 
  • A determiner may identify two or more persons or things.
  • A determiner may precede numerals or objects.
  • A determiner may indicate a quantity or amount.

Here’s a detailed explanation of each type with examples:

 1. Articles

Articles specify whether a noun is definite or indefinite.

- Definite Article: "The"

  - Example: The book on the table is mine.

- Indefinite Articles: "a" and "an"

 - Example: A cat is sitting on the books.

 - Example: An apple a day keeps the doctor away. (Use "an" before words that begin with a vowel sound)

2. Demonstratives

 4. Quantifiers
