What is notice writing?
Definition:
A notice is a formal or written means of communication. It gives information to the public or a specific group of people. The specific group may be a particular locality, like a school or a society. Notices are pinned on display boards, whether in schools or in public places.
A well-written notice must inform the readers about the following points.

- It should tell what is going to happen i.e. the event.
- It should tell where it will take place.
- The time and date of the event must be clear.
- It should tell the eligibility for it.
- The issuing authority is the person to whom to contact or apply, which should be clearly mentioned.
Format of notice writing -
A notice should be written in a specific format. Keep in mind the following important points while framing a notice.
- Heading - The heading is the name of the organization or an issuing authority. The word "NOTICE" should be written at the top centre of the page.
- Date - The date should be written on the left just below the heading.
- Subject - Title/Subject should be brief and clear. It should indicate the purpose of the notice. The subject/title of the notice comes below the date at the centre of the page.
- What: The event or announcement.
- When: Date and time of the event.
- Where: Venue or location.
- Additional details (if needed): Contact information, entry requirements, etc.
- Write only the most important points.
- Use short and grammatically accurate sentences only.
- The word limit in a body is 40 - 50 words.
- The information must be clear and precise.
- The language should be crisp and formal.
- One point in one sentence and use of passive voice as far as possible.
- Include Date, time, venue and any other information (if necessary).
- Standard abbreviations are allowed.
