 3.6 Think Before You Speak.

Change the narration.

1. A young man went to his teacher and said, "I have spoken very harsh and unkind words to my friend."

2. He said, "How can I make ammends?"

3. He said, "I am afraid that I have lost my friendship with him."

4. The spiritual teacher said to the young man, "write down on this paper all the harsh things you said to him."

5. The wise teacher continued, " Now tear up the sheet of paper into as many small beads as you can."

6. "Throw the bits out of this window,"he said.

7. "Now, go out into the street and collect as many bits of the paper as you can, " the teacher ordered him.

8. The young man tammered, " But....but, that will be difficult..."

9. The teacher suggested, " It will be difficult indeed, but do give it a try."

10. The teacher said to him, " Once you have spoken the words aloud, it is very difficult to take them back."

11. The spiritual teacher said, " Therefore, learn to think before you speak in anger."

12. "O wise one, how may we know when it is right to speak?"

2. He said, "How can I make ammends?"

Ans.

He asked how he could make ammends.

Ans.

He said that he was afraid that he has lost his friendship with him.


4. The spiritual teacher said to the young man, "write down on this paper all the harsh things you said to him."

Ans.

The spiritual teacher asked the young man to write down on that paper all the harsh things he had said to him.


5. The wise teacher continued, " Now tear up the sheet of paper into as many small bits as you can."

Ans.

The wise teacher continued and ordered to tear up the sheet of paper into as many small bits as he could.


6. "Throw the bits out of this window,"he said.

Ans.

He ordered to prove the bits out of the of that window.


7. "Now, go out into the street and collect as many bits of the paper as you can, " the teacher ordered him.

Ans.

The teacher ordered him to go out into the street and collect as many bits of paper as he could.


8. The young man stammered, "But....but, that will be difficult..."

Ans.

The young man stammered and said that it would be difficult.


9. The teacher suggested, " It will be difficult indeed, but do give it a try."

Ans.

The teacher suggested that it would be difficult indeed but order him to give it a try.


10. The teacher said to him, " Once you have spoken the words aloud, it is very difficult to take them back."

Ans.

The teacher told him that once you have spoken the word aloud it is very difficult to take them back.


11. The spiritual teacher said, " Therefore, learn to think before you speak in anger."

Ans.

The spiritual teacher advised to learn to think before you spoke in anger.


12. "O wise one, how may we know when it is right to speak?" The young man asked.

Ans.

The young man asked the wise one how he might know when it was right to speak.
